Becoming, Part 2

Yesterday marked another in our series of in-character role-playing events based on episodes of the series, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. These events are structured enough to guide some elements of the narrative along the lines of a given episode. They are open-ended enough to permit creative input from the role-players including the integration of their own storylines.

In this case, two teams met in a contest to achieve a set of victory conditions based upon the episode “Becoming, Part 2” - with Angelus and his gang trying to awaken the demon Acathla while the Scoobies try to stop him by restoring his soul and if necessary by killing him.

Remarkably, almost every major character from that episode was represented in one form or another. Here is a list of our players and their characters:

Bellarata Morane - Vamp Willow (with a soul and helping Buffy)

Captain Neximus - Spike

Faith Davi - Shannon (possessed and helping Angelus)

Jenny Revestel - Drusilla

Kaleb Kessel - Angel/Angelus

Nashura Wunderlich – Cordelia Chase

Soara Jewell – Xander Harris

Zeno Baxton – Buffy Summers

Our game began in Sunnydale High School with each team having to find a ritual necessary for them to win the game. Angelus found the information he needed in Giles’ office in the library and returned to his mansion to awaken Acathla. Meanwhile, Cordy found Jenny Carpenter’s notes in the computer lab and passed them along to Willow who then cast the curse to return Angel’s soul.

But Angelus had already drawn the sword from the body of Acathla, so Buffy, Cordy, Willow and Xander had to storm the mansion to stop the demon from awakening. After a fierce battle with Spike switching sides, betraying Angelus and upsetting Drusilla in the process, Angel was slain and the world saved.

So in the end, Angels dies and Buffy cries. All is as it should be.

Tomb of Acathla

The forces of darkness are on the rise! After capturing the mysterious obelisk from the school archaeology lab not once but twice, the vamps and demons successfully defended Angel's Mansion from a last minute counter-attack by the Slayers and Scoobies.

The winners of our Capture the Tomb of Acathla event are Captain Neximus, Faith Calamity, Javelin Somerset, Jenny Revestel, and Kailyn Somerset.

Slaying Cancer event

Slaying Cancer in Sunnydale

Friday April 17th from 6pm to 9pm, Sunnydale-SL will be hosting a benefit event for Race for Life at the Bronze. Sunnydale has teamed up with Justice League Unlimited to bring you 3 hours of entertainment.I'll be starting things off at 6 with some rockin' tunage, i'm thinking an Hour of Leonard Cohan.... or maybe not :) I'm still ironinng out a play list (Edit: I'm going to play 80s/90s rock for the first hour). Then at 7 pm Whirli Placebo will take the stage, not only a fine Guitarist/singer, but also a big fan of Buffy, so I would not be surprised to hear a tune or two that we all love from our favorite show (perhaps from a favorite episode). But probably not from the Hush episode, good music but hard to dance to. Then after we have exhausted Whirli, I'll retake the stream and continue pumping out the jams (Edit: Favorites from the BtVS series) until 9pm or until ya'll run out of Lindens to donate, which ever comes last :)

still working out some details on other goodies to have, so stay tuned.

okay, it's coming up on 1 am my time and i'm running on 2 hours sleep so I may have rambled on a bit, but I'm really excited about this event. Lets see just how much we can raise for RFL, lets slay cancer.

Something loose in Sunnydale

Just a heads up, we have been getting reports of a large ... thing, in Sunnydale over the past few days. Then this morning it rampaged through Teez'n you and ate most of the inventory. Bear my ass. that was a Suvolte demon and considering its appetite, I'd say its ready to lay its eggs. We can not allow any eggs to hatch. Today April 9th at 6 pm we will mount a full scale search and destroy of any demon eggs in Sunnydale. The Suvolte will be using what it ate to nurish the newly hatched demons, so any items found inside of the eggs must be removed from the egg in the process of destroying it.

Meet at the Bronze to get full instructions on proper destruction of these demon eggs.
